31 Years – Facing the Cowboys in 1994

– Little Giants –

Honorable Mentions: Blank Check, The Professional, The Shawshank Redemption

As the oldest of 3 siblings, there were certainly movies that were played on repeat in our house. Little Giants was one of them. The timeless tale of the underdog going toe to toe with a superior rival is nothing new. But when you update the story with rival pee wee football teams, add in some heart and put it in the lead roles in the hands of Rick Moranis and Ed O’Neil, you have something fun.

This movie made the list because it was a reliable film that I could watch over and over again with my younger siblings. The laughs are plenty and the characters are memorable. To this day, I quote the movie at random and if I find someone who catches the reference, I give a nod of understanding and apprectiation.

ICONIC LINE:
[receiving their uniforms]
Tad: Death shrouds
[flips one around]
Danny O’Shea: They’ve got your names on the back.
Jake Berman: So the guys at the morgue can identify the bodies.
